The Year 6's Puppet Show

Yesterday the year 6's from rooms 7 and 8 came over to room 2 to do a puppet show for us and Tayla and I liked the Tinkerbelle story and Charlie and Ethan liked the story of the three little bears. (Myah, Tayla, Ethan and Charlie)

We liked the Ugly Duckling show because Harrison’s brother (Fletcher) was reading the ugly duckling book. (Harrison, Ebon & George)

We also heard the story of the Three Little Pigs, I really liked the houses. (George)

A Big Congratulations to all the year sixes from their amazing work creating the sets and performing their puppet shows. You all did a great job and should be very proud of your efforts; I know room 2 is very proud of you.

From Miss Maher.

Hockey

On Tuesday morning Craig came to teach Room 2 how to play hockey, we had so much fun and played lots of different games. We were having so much fun Miss Maher forgot to take any photos. Craig taught us a game called Sneak up Jack, we had never played it before but Miss Maher told us she used to play it when she was a little girl. It was heaps of fun we had to dribble or ball along with our sticks and stop before 'Jack' turned around if our ball rolled away or we weren't quick enough we had to go back to the starting line. Then we played a game where you had to get the ball to the other end of the field without someone hitting it out and Harrison was the winner. At the end we played a game of Hockey, we learnt lots of skills and had so much fun.
Thanks Craig :)

Our visit from Des (the nurse)

On Tuesday Des came to our class to teach us about washing our hands.
She told us that we can get germs on our hands and different things if we don't wash them properly, but we can kill them by washing our hands properly.
We learn't you need to wash your hands for as long as is takes you to sing the Happy Birthday (Des) song (20 Seconds).
Then we went to practice washing our hands, the girls went to the girls toilets and the boys went to the boys toilets. We sung Happy Birthday Des as we washed our hands.

We made sure we dried them properly to0 as Des taught us this is just as important as washing them.
She even checked under our nails for any hidden dirt.
She read us a story about a boy who forgot to wash his hands after playing outside and he got a sore tummy.

Before she left she gave us some cool posters for our classroom, some colouring in posters and even a sticker each.

Thanks Des, We had so much fun learning about how to keep our hands clean.

Autumn at Lower Moutere School

Last week we went outside to play in the leaves. It was so much fun crunching them under our feet and throwing them in the air.

Next we Choose one leaf each, we went back to class and we brainstormed about our leaves.
The next day Mrs Milsom taught us how to write smilies.
We used our good knowledge of smilies to write poems about our leaves.

Here are some of our leaf poems.

As beautiful as a rainbow.
As bright as the Sun.
As crunchy as cornflakes.
As red as a fire engine.
